Milltown State Park Floodplain TrailMontana's newest state park is in need of some TLC. The 0.5-mile Floodplain Trail has almost vanished from the landscape, and we need to bring it back to life!

Join Montana State Parks AmeriCorps members for some beautiful days alongside the Clark Fork River, taking in the views and digging in the dirt!

Expect to use hand tools to remove vegetation and turn up the soil. No experience is necessary; we'll teach you everything you need to know. Please bring closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing, a water bottle, and a sack lunch.

This trail building event will occur weekly on Saturdays in September and October--please check the dates listed below. Join us for as many sessions as you'd like, and stay as long as you'd like. We will typically meet at the Milltown State Park Overlook on Saturday's at 10am. If you would like to join us, but don't want to work on the trail, we have plenty of noxious weed rosettes that need to be pulled as well! Help Build Trails at Milltown State Park for National Trails Day
         -Saturday, June 6 from 11am to 3pm-

Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) invites the public to celebrate National Trails Day at Milltown State Park on Saturday, June 6 from 11am to 3pm.

Trail work is afoot at the Milltown State Park where Montana State Park staff and volunteers will help with trail construction of the Floodplain Loop in participation of National Trails Day. The Floodplain Loop makes up one segment of the proposed trail network at Milltown State Park. The trail system will connect the overlook to an existing rail grade and blend recreation with interpretation of the area’s natural and cultural history, river ecology and restoration.

Meet park staff at noon at the Milltown State Park Overlook off Deer Creek Road to hear an interpretive talk, “Past, Present, and Future Pathways through Milltown State Park.” After sharing trail plans for the park, enjoy a ranger-led hike from the Overlook to the Clark Fork Floodplain. Bring a picnic lunch, sturdy shoes, and weather-appropriate hiking necessities for our trek through moderate terrain. The hike will be from 1-3pm.
